Sofree

SoFree. So real. So fine. So right! SoFree Wisdom was born in Landstuhl, Germany. A prodigy from the start, this tremendous artist was literally singing at the same time she was learning to utter sounds. As she grew, this phenomenal talent only advanced her musical abilities. Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Usher are just some of the singing giants that she admired and was inspired by. From the tender age of 8, SoFree has been creatively challenging herself with her musical acumen. She has immense writing skills coupled with the talent for arranging her own songs. She continues to write, adding gripping life stories from those she observed along with her life experiences. SoFree Wisdom has remarkable skill regarding her vocal range. For years she was strictly a soprano. But as her voice matured she developed a beautiful alto sound. Her objective with her musical career is to touch the hearts of millions around the world, as her musical idols have done for her. Ever the caring individual, SoFree cannot wait for the day that someone says to her “SoFree, your song really got me through a hard time, thank you so much.” To be able to help someone and give them inspiration and encouragement during a difficult time it’s what she longs for. SoFree is also a full-time mother. Her daughter is her heart and soul and SoFree’s greatest inspiration. As SoFree states, “She saved my life and I thank God for her every chance I get. She also inspires me to be the best woman that I can be not only for myself, but for her.” With SoFree possessing a bright, intelligent, and engaging personality combined with incredible voice, her musical career has many great things in store.

The Design

The music of tHE.DESIGN is informed by at least a generation of great rock music, in the words, the sound, arrangement and style, and they put that all together into an exciting CD which is fun to listen to. They remind you of their roots, but they sound like themselves.
It's a thrill to hear a band that seems to say, "We're putting out a great rock album." No niches or micro-niches. And why? Because we can. It’s like climbing Everest because it’s there, or pointing in the stands to where the home run is going to go. And if enough people hear this CD and get hooked on it like I did, Raleigh will have a much better reason to be on the national pop music "map" than being the home of Clay Aiken. -article by Cal Nordt

Monika Jaymes Band

The Monika Jaymes Band Album :There You Are review The legendary Bev Paul, former general manager of Durham's Sugar Hill Records, likes her. That’s good enough for me! "Jaymes has a big, warm voice that moves easily from bluesy rock to soulful country without missing a lick",says Paul. She's right. Monika Jaymes is a singer/songwriter based out of Fuquay-Varina, NC. There You Are shows influences like Fleetwood Mac, which is no surprise. She has been writing songs and playing in bands since the age of 13. In 1998, she was chosen to perform at World Special Olympics. This poetic pop artist is sure to continue along this path of success. The songs are well written, warm, and welcoming. So it should come as no surprise that Jaymes was a semi-finalist in the very competitive ISC (International Songwriters Competition. Dave Rose : Deep South Raleigh Downtowner

Scarlet Virginia

"Listen. Scarlet Virginia has secrets. Front porch backwoods summer evening muse secrets. The kind that linger on in the air long after the fireflies have gone and the distant highway noise settles down for the night. The kind that make you feel happy and sad and contrite and whimsically optimistic all at the same time because somewhere deep into that thick Southern American night seep the ghosts ...of what might have been and what may never be. And so we all go into that all-encompassing darkness of time, blind but for the music."
Scarlet Virginia is Lindsey Collins (who writes, sings, and plays acoustic rhythm guitar, mandolin, banjo, and tries to play the accordion), Mike Shelby (who plays lead acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, and sings harmonies), Katharine Liang (who plays the violin, piano, and sings harmonies), Ben Halliday (who plays the bass guitar), and Kyle Duppstadt (who plays the drums and percussion).

Crystal Bright and The Silver Hands
"This is what it would sound like if Kate Bush were to genetically fuse with Danny Elfman and Dresden Dolls in some strange biological experiment." The group is led by Crystal Bright with her educational background in Anthropology and Ethnomusicology and experiences playing in groups that varied from Mariachi and Ugandan to Chinese and Indonesian gamelan ensembles.
Crystal sings and plays accordion, musical saw, concertina, adungu (Ugandan harp), bombo (Argentinian drum), and various others. She is very fortunate to be playing with some amazing multi-instrumentalists and you will find 1-4 of them accompanying her depending on the occasion.

A Tin Djinn
Step right up, ladies and gentleman...dissenters of distilled pop and orphans of the hipster revolution. Experience the phantasmagoric stylings and incomparable force of awe that is A tin djinn. Rising from the ashes of former stalwart Nashville outfit, 'Milkshake?' comes this rather undefinable trio. Lead by formidable archetype, majestic visionary, enforcer of paisley, ambassador of embroidery, and masterful instructor in the art of the muse, on guitar & vocals Eliot Wilcox! But he's not alone folks, he has with him a new face. The young Zulu warrior, with the echoing voice that resonates for days, the volatile, dazzling, furious bass slapper with a smirk that will cease you in your shivering stance, Gary (The Furious) Collins! And the newest addition to the group of Mad Men, a super-heroic talisman of hedonistic transmissional voom. On drums & vocals, the diabolical boom boom crooner, sarcastic, slap stick, black lipstick mother bitch with a "bag" full of tricks........Steve Tucci (aka Tooch)!......A tin djinn has set out to breathe a breeze of the bazaar into the local music scene of Raleigh. Lock up your children and hide the chiffon. A tin djinn is coming to a theatre near yooz!
