NC Local Music is bringing you another Freebie!!!!

Featuring:

West Trinity

West Trinity plays the kind of raw bluesy rock that spans from the Piedmont to Picadilly Square. Free from synthesizers, samplers and drum machines, the music of West Trinity is centered around barbaric tribal drumbeats and biting guitar, with soaring vocals and thoughtful composition.

BAND:

Therese Honeycutt – vocals. Therese travelled with bands in NC, SC, W.Va, as well as parts of Canada and Greenland with the USO/DOD. She’s influenced by all kinds of music, from classical(blues, jazz) to heavy metal.

John K – guitar. John is a Chicago native. He has a unique style – John uses metal banjo fingerpicks on three of his fingers while playing electric guitar – a style like you’ve never seen or heard before.

Kenray -bass. Kenray was brought up in the Atlanta music scene. He trained in his family’s recording studio and plays fretless bass with a plectrum.

Jensen Tu – drums. Jensen spent most of his youth in Beijing China, and the cultural and musical influence of Asia shows up in his tribal yet precise drum style.

Chris Harlan

http://www.reverbnation.com/chrisharlan#

Finally, the canvas of hip hop has been splashed with a brand new color. Armed with a guitar and a notebook, hip hop songwriter/producer Chris Harlan is impressing new fans everyday as he hops on stage, wails on his guitar and spits mind blowing rhymes. Chris Harlan released his first album "Harlan presents Brainstorm" in 2006. The single "Bring that Back" caught the attention of some indie film producers for various NC films, and Harlan was also invited to New York to be on the Speed Channel TV show "Unique Whips" as well as record a theme song for the nationwide cable show. The owner, Will Castro, heard Harlan freestyle and immediately got on the phone and called rapper Busta Rhymes to tell him who Chris Harlan was! Since the album, Harlan's song "Like the Showgram" was played on one of the biggest NC Radio Stations, on G105's hit show "Bob & the Showgram" as they played the song and complimented on his music. Chris Harlan's brand new single "That's Another Thing" is simply being called "genius" by people from all over. The smooth guitar chords along with the catchy chant of the dance-style chorus, Harlan is amazing onlookers with his truly unique skill and completely refreshing peformance. His unique style is self-driven but also results from his wide range of influences such as Nirvana, Kid Rock, Beastie Boys, Talib Kwali, KRS One, Jadakiss, System of a Down, Biggie, Marilyn Manson, and Eminem.

Bubonik Funk

The name "Bubonik Funk" is known very well around Charlotte, North Carolina and beyond as the band of three years continues to grow and improve on their eclectic yet modern sound: Old styles with new sounds. Charlotte publications and venues are taking notice of the fast-growing popularity, as well as radio stations and venues in Boston, New York City, Washington DC, and elsewhere. Bubonik Funk played their last show on Halloween with nationally touring act "Soulive". The band is also on the verge of releasing a 2009 E.P. entitled "Wink at the Devil". The upward spiral of popularity and success comes without management, booking agents, record labels or promoters. It is all Bubonik Funk. It's about the music. With the music industry at it's knees, B-Funk is showing it's alternative means of reaching success and recognition. New E.P. "Wink at the Devil" out now.

Leaving Venus

These talented musicians know pop positive chord changes. They're like eating one potato chip, impossible to stop with just one. They played for 40 short minutes, but I needed them to play longer. In todays economic depression Leaving Venus insists upon a smile, a kiss from whomever is nesting with you and dance. I wanted to move, to dance, to spin and laugh. Great music! p.s. reminded me a little bit of 80's pop college music. --Jon Haynes, Jon Haynes Photography

Jorden Okren

Born in Manhattan, raised in Raleigh, NC, 19 year old Jordan Okrend is a singer/songwriter who is ready to make a lasting mark on the popular music scene. Having first picked up the guitar at the age of 7, Jordan hasn’t slowed down since with his love for his instrument and for the crafting of memorable melodies that move the body and touch the soul. Growing up in a house where many different types of music was always on or played, Jordan became a sponge in the musical sense. By the time he was finishing his senior year of high school just over a year ago, Jordan was versed in Jazz, Rock, Soul and Reggae, had written scores of original songs, played countless gigs in his hometown, and was accepted into the prestigious Berklee School of Music. Now forging his own distinct sound, Jordan is ready to release a debut EP, “Unpredictable” with five songs that capture a youthful exuberance and a timeless soulful essence. These songs have a contemporary feel that bring artists such as John Mayer and Jack Johnson to mind, but they also have roots and melodies that evoke The Beatles and Bob Marley. Jordan has always believed that music can change the world. He hopes to inspire people with his music, and continues to write uplifting songs for all to enjoy.

LIzh

Singer/songwriter Lizh and her band have a unique approach to music: "If it feels good and sounds good, who cares what you call it?" With Lizh's power house vocals, distinctive songwriting and the band's uncanny ability to capture a "melting pot" sound, they make genre-hopping feel completely natural. With the heart of Soul and a singer/songwriter taste for story telling, Lizh and band blur the lines between the genres with occasional stanzas of Spoken Word, a Reggaeton rhythm here and there.

Garland Mason Band

Over the past 5 years, Garland Mason has been writing songs about the world around him. As an astute observer, his songs touch on social issues, love, loss, joy, and pain. After spending his youth searching for his voice, he finally found it in the American music forms of Blues, Soul, Motown and R&B. Growing up in a small town called Fuquay-Varina, NC, set a fire in his heart to travel and learn from life through experience; which is where the inspiration to write blooms. His sound is as if Marvin Gaye sat down and wrote a few tunes with Muddy Waters and Stevie Wonder.

Garland recorded his first set of songs in late December of 2009 in a Raleigh studio with his original 3-piece band. In January of 2010, Garland Mason took his songs to Nashville in a showcase for music executives at the historic 3rd and Linsley. After receiving deafening amounts of positive feedback, he decided to form a new, concrete band to give the backbone to his songwriting. Once this group began piecing itself together, the Raleigh music scene quickly began falling for the fresh sound of this new group. Soon there after, Garland headed to the 96 Rock studio to record his songs for the masses on the radio waves. With an interview and 3 songs recorded acoustically in studio, the greater Raleigh/Durham area got it's first true taste of the passion Garland emblazons in his heart for music.
